Sedan, SUV, van, Sprinter or limousine: which do you need?

The right vehicle depends on who is travelling, how much they are carrying and what the trip is for. Here is how our five classes compare.

Luxury Sedan: 1 to 3 passengers, 2 large suitcases

The default for airport runs and business travel. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or Audi A8 gives rear climate control, reclining seats and a quiet cabin. Best for solo travellers and couples.

Luxury SUV: 1 to 5 passengers, 4 large suitcases

More space and a higher seating position. A Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7 or Audi Q7 suits families, small groups, golf bags and ski gear.

Executive Van: 1 to 7 passengers, 6 large suitcases

Captain seats facing each other make a moving meeting room. A Mercedes-Benz V-Class or Kia Carnival suits teams and larger families with luggage.

Mercedes Sprinter: 1 to 12 passengers, bulk luggage

One vehicle instead of four. Ideal for conference groups, wedding parties and touring crews who need to arrive together.

Stretch Limousine: up to 8 passengers

For the night that is the occasion: weddings, formals and milestone birthdays. Priced by arrangement through a special request.

A quick rule of thumb

  • Count the people, then count the large suitcases.
  • If either number is close to the limit, take the next size up.
  • For a team that needs to talk on the way, choose the van.
  • For an occasion, choose the limousine.
